Manchester United v Anderlecht Player Ratings: Rashford Shines But Ibra Has a Shocker!

Romero- 7

Had a good game, and made some fine saves. Could’ve done better for Hanni’s goal though.

Valencia- 6

Had a poor night by his standards. Wasn’t much of a help going forwards, and lost possession on more than one occasion which could’ve been fatal for the home side.

Bailly- 7.5

Had a great match. Solid and composed display, and dealt with everything Anderlecht threw at him. One of United’s most consistent performers this season.

Rojo- 6.5

Had a pretty solid game, until he was stretchered off in the 23rd minute. Unlucky night for the Argentinian.

Shaw- 7.5

A surprise start for the young left back, who made most of his chance. He defended well, but his greatest contributions came further up field. He was involved in many attacks, and could’ve even scored but was a bit unlucky.

Carrick- 6.5

Didn’t put a foot wrong, but didn’t assert his usual dominance on the opposition midfield. Safeguarded the back line well after Rojo’s injury.

Pogba- 7.5

Had an astoundingly good game, as he ran the show in the middle of the park. He dominated the young Tielemans, and came close to scoring twice, but was thwarted by Ruben’s awesome saves. His through in the build up to Mkhitaryan’s opener was simply majestic.

Mkhitaryan- 7.5

He’s had an excellent season in the European competition, which he surprisingly hasn’t been able to emulate in the League. Scored a nice goal, and had a hugely positive involvement in the game- both Offensively and Defensively.

Lingard- 6.5

Couldn’t do much but tired the opposition with his menacing pace and stamina. His shot in the first half was well saved by Ruben. Hauled off in the second half.

Rashford- 8.5

Man of the Match display by the young Mancunian. Created many great chances and his scillinating runs were deadly. Deservedly clinched the winning goal.

Ibrahimovic- 4

Poor night for the Swede superstar. Did nothing in front of goal, apart from missing open chances when he should’ve scored. Lost possession on many occasions. Suffered an apparently serious injury, which could keep him out for the remainder of the season.

SUBSTITUTES

Blind (for Rojo)- 6

Hadn’t played at centre back since September, and therefore looked shaky. Was partly to blame for Hanni’s goal by not dealing with the rebound better. More composed as the match grew on.

Fellaini (for Lingard)- 7

Came on in the second half to provide his attacking and aerial advantage to the home side. Was solid and didn’t put a foot wrong. Provided the assist for Rashford’s winner.

Martial (for Ibrahimovic)- 6

Wouldn’t have come on had Ibrahimovic not been injured. Did not do much to score the winner, and looked lost on some occasions. He did score but was flagged offside.

Subs Not Used- De Gea, Herrera, Young, Rooney.
