Manchester Derby Player Ratings: Bailly and Blind Standout Performers

De Gea- 7

Made some fine saves, and dealt well with the shots of Aguero and Kolarov.

Valencia- 6

Dealt well with the menacing pace of Leroy Sane, but didn’t offer his usual attacking outlet down the right.

Bailly- 8

Excellent performance from the young defender, who dealt with everything City threw at him. Another flawless display.

Blind- 8

Had a surprisingly brilliant game, as he dealt well with Aguero. His tackles and decisive interceptions helped United keep a clean sheet.

Darmian- 7

Had a decent first half, but was better after the break. Dealt well with first Sterling and then Jesus Navas at left back.

Carrick- 7

A composed performance from the United skipper. Orchestrated the midfield and protected his back line well. The hug from Pep Guardiola at the end said it all.

Herrera- 6.5

A relatively quiet game from the Spaniard, who did not exert his usual influence on the match. Did the dirty job for his side, as United looked to create problems at the counter.

Fellaini- 5

Typical performance from the Belgian, who looks to have erased his months of in-form displays with a single game. His stupidity will cost United, who now have just 15 senior players available in their squad. Deserved red for his head-butt, but luckily United managed to keep a clean sheet even after his sending off.

Mkhitaryan- 6.5

Quiet game for the Armenian, who didn’t create a lot of problems for City’s defence. His sudden bursting runs did sometimes excite the fans, but was dealt well by the opposition.

Martial- 6.5

Dangerous runs in the first half gave United a glimmer of hope, but couldn’t maintain his composure after the break. Subbed off for Lingard in the second half.

Rashford- 6.5

Couldn’t create much problems for the City back line, and found himself double-marked at times. His brilliant flick to beat Otamendi was arguably the best moment of and otherwise less entertaining match.

SUBSTITUTES

Lingard (for Martial)- 6

Didn’t do anything noteworthy, and was mostly found at left-back as Mourinho shut down shop.

Fosu-Mensah (for Mkhitaryan)- 6

Came on when United were down to ten men. Decent enough display. Another calamity for United as he injured himself in the dying moments of the match.

Young (for Rashford)- NA

Came on in the final minutes of extra-time. Time wasting substitution.

Subs Not Used- Romero, Tuanzebe, Shaw, Rooney.
