Season in Numbers: 2011-12

A throwback to the 2011-12 season which unfortunately ended in disappointment of losing the title on goal difference from a statistical point of view!

34- Goals scored by Wayne Rooney in 2011-12

Wazza enjoyed one of his best seasons for United scoring a massive 34 goals and assisting a further 5. He was supported by Chicharito and Welbeck who got 12 each, while Nani also scored 10.

13- Assists by Antonio Valencia

Valencia was at his creative best that season! Nani also created 10 goals, while Giggs often playing centrally just in behind Rooney assisted 8 goals. Ashley Young playing on the left wing created 7 goals.

76- Yellow cards conceded by United

United were dirty when they had to be and were awarded a modest 76 yellow cards in the season along with 2 red cards as well. 43 yellow cards were awarded to defenders with Evra winning 9 for himself!

73,376- Average attendance at Old Trafford

As anticipated, the average attendances continued to increase. The free-flowing, creative and attacking football appealed to the masses and fans from all over the world visited the Theatre of Dreams.

7.43- Nani, highest WhoScored rated Man United player

Nani enjoyed a great season for Man United. Scored 1o goals, had 10 assists, made 1.8 dribbles per game, 2.3 key passes per game, was the most fouled player, was caught offside just 0.1 times per game, certainly his best season for the club. He also had 80.2% pass accuracy, and 1.6 successful crosses per game.

73.1- Passes by Carrick every game!

Carrick made the most passes per game at 73.1. Scholes attempted 66 passes per game while Fletcher had 61 to his name. 6 players attempted more than 50 passes per game per player.

10- Players who played more than 2000 minutes in the Premier League

Evra played 3239 minutes-the most for the team, distantly following him in second place was Rooney at 2329 minutes in the season.

6- Man of the Match awards won by Rooney

Rooney was formidable throughout the season. Valencia also established himself as a player who often made the difference and won 4 Man of the Match awards. Welbeck, Nani and Carrick all won 3 MoM awards apiece.

89- Goals scored in the season

United enjoyed a great season in front of the goal, but unfortunately Man City just had a better season! They scored 93 goals and as a result, United lost the title to Manchester City on goal difference.

4- Times United won 5-0 in the league

Man United defeated Fulham, Wigan, Bolton, and Wolverhampton Wanderers by a whopping 5-0 margin! The 8-2 win against Arsenal is celebrated even today; despite this the scars of the 6-1 defeat against City are still fresh in the minds of the supporters.
