One final Bale push, United to trigger Brazilian’s release clause and Willian’s reveal

ANOTHER REUNION?

Chelsea attacking midfielder Willian revealed that Jose Mourinho tried to sign him earlier this summer. Transfer speculation linking Willian with a move to Old Trafford were at times common and Mourinho had previously expressed his love for Willian. Willian has now revealed that talks did take place. The Brazilian said: “[Mourinho] likes me a lot and I like him a lot as a coach and as a person. He has put his trust in me and in my work, and I was very grateful to him. Manchester came to me, they talked with my agent, but nothing happened, because Chelsea would not negotiate me in any way and I’m very happy at Chelsea.”

MORE SHARES TO BE PUBLICLY TRADED

The Glazers are set to flog less than 2% of the shares they hold at Manchester United onto the New York Stock Exchange. The deal is expected to be completed by Tuesday. The move will earn the Glazers close to £57m despite losing control of just 2% of the club. This comes in the aftermath of reports that an unnamed Chinese investor has been buying up the club’s shares as and when they come on the market ahead of a possible takeover. The investor even contacted some of the independent shareholders of the club earlier this month.

LAST DITCH ATTEMPT

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho publicly admitted defeat in his side’s chase for Gareth Bale but is looking to launch one last ditch attempt to sign the Welshman. Mourinho has reportedly urged the club’s shot-callers to offer Bale an unprecedented £500k a week deal in order to persuade the winger to sign. Mourinho also urged the club to splash the cash to sign the former PFA Player of the Year.

FOSU-MENSAH TRAINS WITH PALACE

Pictures showed Timothy Fosu-Mensah training with Crystal Palace ahead of the new campaign despite a lack of confirmation over the loan deal. Palace boss Frank De Boer also said that the completion of the deal is a mere formality.

UNITED CLOSE TO A DEAL?

Manchester United are reportedly set to trigger the release clause of Benfica midfielder Anderson Talisca. The winger currently in the middle of a two year loan deal at the Turkish side previously revealed that Mourinho was a fan of his game. Talisca was linked to United earlier this summer before the transfer talk died away. But it now seems as if United are about to trigger the exit clause in Talisca’s deal and sign the versatile Brazilian.
