International News & Did Mahrez Almost Sign?

MAHREZ IN MANCHESTER?

As the dust settles on deadline day, more and more revelations keep on coming as the latest ones indicate that Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez jetted into Manchester to complete a potential move to Old Trafford. But the proposed move fell through despite the best efforts of the Algerian who was given permission by the Algerian camp to leave in order to complete his transfer. Mahrez was linked with a move away from the home of the former champions but United ran out of time.

UNITED COMPLETE ANOTHER SIGNING

Manchester United have completed the signing of another wonderkid in Arnau Puigmal. Though the club have not officially confirmed this, the player posted pictures of himself signing the contract alongside Andy Cole onto social media site Instagram. Puigmal is tipped to be a world beater and has finally left Espanyol after months of speculation. He is the latest addition to the burgeoning talent at Nicky Butt’s disposal. Puigmal will slot in alongside Angel Gomes, Millen Bars, Di’Shaon Bernard and Ailou Traore. There are high expectations of the quintet at Old Trafford and many believe they could be next set of players to cement themselves as Old Trafford first teamers.

INTERNATIONAL REDS

Several United players were in action for their respective countries as the second set of matches of this International Break went underway. Surprisingly, France played out a goalless draw against minnows Luxembourg. Pogba started and had a good game to continue his impressive form at the start of the campaign. Lukaku scored the winner as Belgium edged past Greece by two-goals-to-one. Belgium also had Marouane Fellaini in the starting lineup and became the first European team to punch their tickets to Brazil. Sweden and Lindelof won 3-0 against Belarus.

RUUD BACKS ROM

Ruud van Nistelrooy have more than a thing or two in common, the prime example being the ability of both the hitmen to score goals at will. Nistelrooy who had a phenomenal goal scoring record at United, has backed new boy Romelu Lukaku to break his record at Old Trafford. The Dutchman praised the Belgian and believed that he could lead United to their next Premier League title.

Another former Red Devil, Edwin van der Sar also flattered Lukaku and labelled him as the next great United striker. Van der Sar echoed Ruud’s thoughts and declared that Lukaku has it in him to guide United to title No.21.

RASHFORD IN LINE TO START

Marcus Rashford who impressed in his 45 minutes against Malta in England’s previous outing is set to get the nod to start ahead of £42m City winger Raheem Sterling. Rashford has been in very good form since the start of the season and his assist for Kane’s second in Malta set the tongues wagging. It is unlikely that Rashford will play centrally and will be asked to man the left wing.
