Players Ratings from Leicester City 2-2 Manchester United

David De Gea (6)

Helpless for the two goals. Another steady performance but overshadowed by United’s dreadful attempt to kill the game off in the second-half.

Victor Lindelof (6)

Made a goal-saving block in his new position at right back. Growing into matches week after week. Reckon he and Bailly will be United’s future centre-back partnership.

Phil Jones (6)

Out of position when Iborra’s pass found Mahrez in the home side’s opener. Recovered later on but damage had already been done.

Chris Smalling (3)

Deary me. Did his bit for Christmas by imitating Bambi on ice after Mahrez had turned him inside out in the first half. Injury allowed Maguire to level late on. Embarrassing all round really.

Ashley Young (5)

Deliveries consistently poor throughout the match and like so many others caught out of position.

Nemanja Matic (6)

Looked a tad lethargic against a side full of energy and belief. Misplaced pass set Mahrez, Vardy and co. away for the first goal.

Paul Pogba (7)

A few of his wild shots could have landed on the M1 but again the Frenchman proved his worth with a domineering midfield display in second half.

Jesse Lingard (5)

Missed an open goal which would’ve won United the match. Intelligent lay-off for Mata’s goal but that miss, wowser.

Juan Mata (8)

Found the net for the first time in three months and then like London buses scored again later on. Silky smooth and acutely aware of dangers.

Anthony Martial (6)

Decision making still a mammoth issue for a player with bundles of skill.

Romelu Lukaku (7)

One of his best games in a United shirt. Pace and power troubled Maguire and Morgan and should have got two assists.

Bench:

Marcus Rashford (3)

Blew one of United’s many chances to win the game later on.

Ander Herrera (6)

Tenacious performance but late goal overshadowed the ending.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan (5)

Recently named Armenia’s player of the year and he will hope he can get back into the squad.
