Lingard gets a 5, Shaw gets a 6.5? Manchester United’s players rated from 1-1 Everton draw

De Gea – 6

Could have done better for Everton’s goal. A quiet night for the Spaniard otherwise.

Young – 6

Played at right-back as Mourinho rested Valencia. Played decently, until he was taken off for Luke Shaw with an apparent groin problem. An uneventful night for the Englishman.

Rojo – 6.5

Shaky in the first half but grew solid as the match went on. Was on fault for Jagielka’s goal, and there were many nervous moments as Lukaku went one-on-one against him. However, he dealt with him well.

Bailly – 7.5

Excellent performance from the young defender. Made some very crucial blocks and tackles, and showed his reliability yet again.

Blind – 6

Decent outing for the Dutchman. Didn’t put a foot wrong. Was sacrificed for Pogba as United looked for the equaliser.

Carrick – 6.5

Calm and composed performance. Didn’t give much support to the attack though. Subbed off for Mkhitaryan in the second half.

Herrera – 7

His energy and urgency were just what United had been lacking in his absence. Put in an all-round performance. Highly accurate passing and made some important interceptions.

Fellaini – 5.5

An off night for the Belgian. His passing was alright, but he missed a couple of good chances when he should’ve done better. His position throughout the match was confusing: he was in the central midfield at one point and receiving long balls up front at the other.

Lingard – 5

Poor outing for the young forward. His crossing wasn’t at par, nor was his ability to beat defenders one-on-one.

Rashford – 6

Mediocre performance. His blazing runs were not threatening for the opposition, and he gave away possession cheaply on many occasions. However, he almost made up for it with his pinpoint cross for Ibrahimovic, who couldn’t keep his header on target.

Ibrahimovic – 6.5

By his standards, a below par performance. He missed a sitter in the second half, but made up to it by calmly slotting home the penalty. His link-up play was not good enough, but it was mainly because he didn’t get enough service.

SUBSTITUTES

Pogba (for Blind) – Came on in the beginning of the second half but couldn’t do much apart from showing flashes of brilliance. Not a noteworthy performance. 6

Mkhitaryan (for Carrick) – Decent performance. Couldn’t pose any attacking threat to Everton’s defenders. Could’ve made a difference had he started. 6

Shaw (for Young) – Came on as Young struggled with a groin problem. Gave a solid performance. Pretty good for a player who was destroyed by his own manager just days ago. 6.5
