Anderlecht v Manchester United: Player Ratings

Romero- 6

A spectator for most of the match. Couldn’t do much for the Dendoncker goal.

Valencia- 7

Good game for the Ecuadorian. Supplied the cross which led to Mkhitaryan’s goal. Made some decisive tackles as well.

Bailly- 7

Had a solid game. Made some fierce tackles and vital blocks. Badly positioned for Anderlecht’s goal though.

Rojo- 7

Another good game for the Argentinian. Gave the Anderlecht attack little space to create anything. Was nowhere near his position for the goal though.

Darmian- 7

Decent outing for the left back. Was composed in defence and provided a pinpoint cross for Mkhitaryan who volleyed wide.

Carrick- 7.5

Bossed the midfield. Gave Tielemans little space to create any menace. Completed some excellent forward passes and made a couple of important interceptions to start a counter. Only blot on the night was his booking.

Pogba- 7.5

Good game for the Frenchman. Dominated the midfield and was well positioned for most of the match. Was sent through on goal by Ibrahimovic but fired his shot straight at the goalkeeper.

Lingard- 5.5

Started in his favoured central attacking position, but didn’t do much apart from running behind the opposition defence in a bid to create some space. Nothing came off for him. Struck the post from point blank range in the 7th minute. Subbed off for Martial in the second half.

Another good game for the Armenian. Scored the vital away goal. Created many chances but just lacked the final touch. Came off for Fosu-Mensah in the final minutes.

Rashford- 7

Played well and created ample chances. Brilliantly struck shot which led to Micki’s goal. Gullible for giving away possession too easily in the away box many times. Substituted in the second half.

Ibrahimovic- 6

Poor night for the Swede by his standards. Didn’t create many chances, and was dealt away with by Mbodji easily. His highlight of the night was his shot from point blank range which was well saved by Ruben.

Martial (for Lingard)- 5.5

Poor night for the attacker. Didn’t start for the third match in a row, and thus looked rusty and off pace. Didn’t pose much of a threat and gave away possession cheaply on more than one occasion.

Fellaini (for Rashford)- 6

Didn’t have much to do, apart from shooting twice straight at the opposition goalkeeper.

Fosu-Mensah (for Mkhitaryan)- 5.5

Spent too little time on the pitch, but still enough to be booked.

Subs not used: De Gea, Blind, Shaw Herrera.
