Reaction to yesterday’s victory and has a De Gea transfer finally been agreed?

BADGE-RING THE BLUES

Jose Mourinho went full ‘Judas’ after his Manchester United defeated his former employers, Chelsea 2-0 at Old Trafford. Jose repeatedly patted the Manchester United badge on his coat as he headed down the touchline towards the tunnel. The smirk on Jose’s face would have particularly irked Chelsea fans who once revered the man. It was eerily similar to the time Mourinho’s Chelsea stopped Liverpool’s title charge, the way United did Chelsea’s yesterday.

JUST RASHFORD

Marcus Rashford has played down his performance against Chelsea on Sunday. Everyone was baffled by Jose’s decision to drop top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic and play Rashford in the crunch clash. Rashford was impressive all afternoon and his pace, along with Lingard’s up top, caused Antonio Conte’s side all sorts of problems. Rashford has hit top gear at the perfect time and scored his second goal in as many games. He has now scored against Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City. Not bad for a 19-year-old.

AIR-TIGHT

Jose Mourinho singled out his centre-backs Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo for praise, after the match on Sunday. Speaking to Sky Sports, Mourinho said: “Bailly, Marcos Rojo, I think they deserve special mention. They play absolutely non-stop since the injuries to Smalling and Jones.” The two were sublime all afternoon, pulled down the shutter and held Chelsea to their worst performance in front of goal for a long time.

THE WIZARD OF OZ

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has revealed that his then manager, Jose Mourinho was ‘astonished’ by the former’s decision to quit Real Madrid back in 2013. Mourinho is an open fan of the German playmaker and the pair shared a close relationship during their time in Madrid. Mourinho now wishes to be reunited with his man and is trying to make a move for the dynamic German. Ozil is reportedly stalling on a new deal at the Emirates with just 13 months left on his contract.

DONE DEAL?

Manchester United and Real Madrid have already agreed a player-cum-cash deal for David de Gea. It has now emerged that United will let de Gea walk if Madrid agree to let Toni Kroos come the other way. The German midfielder has been linked with a similar move in the past and reportedly rejected Old Trafford for the Bernabeu. Mourinho is a big fan of the German and will most probably sanction the trade.
