Andreas Pereira
Played the full 90 minutes in the 2-0 defeat to Sevilla. He performed decently and was one of the best players on the pitch for the losing side. He created perhaps their best chance, as his headed pass for Mehdi Gonzalez came off the bar. Pereira himself had two shots in the match. The first one, a left-footed strike, was just wide, while his second effort from outside the box was well saved by Sergio Rico. Apart from that, Pereira showed some nice touches and displayed a spark in his skillful dribbling, winning a free-kick in a dangerous position in the final minutes. He’s one of the lone bright spots in Tony Adams’ relegation threatened side.
Sam Johnstone
Kept a clean sheet in the 1-0 win against Birmingham City. Wasn’t really threatened throughout the match, which was decided by super sub-Agbonlahor’s goal minutes after his introduction. Che Adams missed a great opportunity in the 38th minute when he shot wide, leaving Johnstone unscathed. His best and probably the only notable save came in the 65th minute when he finger-tipped Davis’ low shot to keep the tie goalless. Only three minutes after this save came the winning goal.
Adnan Januzaj
Sunderland weren’t in action this weekend, so nothing new on Januzaj’s situation.
