Manchester United vs Swansea City Player Ratings

De Gea- 6

Made some routine saves, but was well beaten by Sigurdsson’s free kick. His distribution was poor though, which shows that his mind could be somewhere else. Madrid, anyone?

Young- 6

Started at right back but shifted to left back when Shaw was injured. Was diligent, but his crossing needs a lot of work.

Bailly- 7

Another supreme performance from the Ivorian. Was unlucky to go off injured in the second half, but United faithful would be praying that his injury isn’t too serious.

Blind- 7

Another solid performance at centre-back. Made a couple of key interceptions, and dealt well with Llorente and Ayew.

Shaw- 6

Lasted only for seven minutes, and it looks like his United career could well be over, as Mourinho would again question his mentality and desire.

Carrick- 6.5

Composed in midfield and confident in possession. Couldn’t assert his usual influence though, as Swansea ran the show in the midfield.

Herrera- 6

Wasn’t at his sumptuous best, as he couldn’t influence the proceedings. Was full of energy and desire, but just lacked the cutting edge.

Rooney- 5

Anonymous in the first half. Unconvincing display from the skipper. Gave away the free kick from which Swansea levelled. Did convert the penalty, though.

Lingard- 5

Poor game for the Englishman. Was industrious and energetic, but provided nothing much apart from that. He is useful in a central position, and its time for Mourinho to stop playing him wide.

Martial- 6.5

A decent game as he was very direct in his dribbling and movement. Unlucky to have been unable to convert any opportunity, and was certainly the only player who excited fans today.

Rashford- 6

Decent game for the young striker. Nothing much came off for him, but he did create some chances. His positioning was great, but his set-pieces were awful. Seemed to dive for the penalty, which led to United’s opener.

SUBSTITUTES

Valencia (for Shaw)- 6

Solid performance, but didn’t offer much in attack.

Darmian (for Bailly)- 6.5

Showed his capability of playing anywhere across the back line, as he didn’t put a foot wrong at centre-back, following Bailly’s injury. Mourinho’s trust has apparently boosted his confidence.

Mkhitaryan (for Rooney)- 5.5

Came on just after Swansea levelled the scores. Couldn’t do much and was unable to find the winner. Little time to make an impact.

Subs Not Used- Romero, Tuanzebe, McTominay, Mata.
