Here’s how the on loan United players fared at the weekend-
Andreas Pereira (Granada C.F.)
Played the entirety of the 2-1 defeat to Real Sociedad, which confirmed his side’s relegation to the La Liga 2. Carlos Vela and Juanmi scored for Sociedad, while Ramos pulled one back for the relegated side. Pereira, who started at the No. 10 position, couldn’t convert a couple of chances in the first half. His left-footed shot from outside the box in the 26th minute was well saved by Rulli, while his free-kick in the 31st minute was just off-target. He created a chance for Adrian Ramos in the second half, whose shot was blocked. Then he attempted a through ball twice, but Ramos was caught offside both times. Pereira’s final contribution for his side was his chance created for Jeremie Boga, whose subsequent shot was caught by Rulli.
Sam Johnstone (Aston Villa F.C.)
Started in goal in the 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers at the weekend. He made the only notable save in the first half, when he superbly denied Nyambe from 12 yards out. Nyambe connected with a cross and hit the ball low and hard but Johnstone showed brilliant reactions to palm the ball away by diving to his right. He could do nothing to prevent Blackburn from scoring in the 53rd minute, as a terrible pass from Baker in the Villa defence was intercepted by Lowe, who played it to Graham who curled the ball past Johnstone with a first touch. He didn’t have much to do after that, as he saw his side fall to 12th in the standings, behind Preston North End.
Adnan Januzaj (Sunderland AFC)
Was an unused substitute in the 1-0 loss to Bournemouth, which confirmed his side’s relegation to the Championship. Joshua King scored for the visitors, as the side led by David Moyes saw their worst nightmare come true.
