Shaw undergoes surgery and Rashford makes squad

GOOD NEWS OR BAD NEWS?

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw underwent surgery to correct an ankle ligament injury recently. The surgery will reportedly keep the young left back out until the beginning of the new season. This can be good news for fans of Shaw as it would scuttle a potential move away in the summer. Mourinho may have to ‘contend’ with Shaw for another season.

THE NEW ONE CLUB MAN

Marcus Rashford has revealed that he plans to stay at Manchester United for the rest of his career. Rashford does not see a reason why he cannot emulate club legends Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs in coming through the academy and retiring at Old Trafford. Speaking to SPORTbible, Rashford said: “Some people are here, there and everywhere but the ones that stay loyal are the ones that stand out. I think even more so now, because you stand out if you’re that person. Especially if you achieve something and win things. Consistency. That’s what I’m looking for.”

RASHFORD IN ARSENAL SQUAD

Marcus Rashford has shrugged off the knock he picked up in the win over Celta Vigo and took his place in the coach to London. The 19-year-old was expected to be fit only in time for the return leg next summer but he has now given Mourinho a boost. Rashford’s role in tonight’s match remains uncertain as Mourinho may field a weakened side.

BELOTTI BOOST

Manchester United received a boost in their hopes to sign Torino striker Andrea Belotti. When asked about the possibility of losing his star man, Torino president Urbano Carlo revealed that he has an agreement with Belotti himself to allow a move to a non-Italian club if an £85m offer comes for him. Belotti has lit up the Serie A this season scoring 23 goals already.

KIERAN TIERNEY RIVALS

Manchester United will face competition from Arsenal and possibly Chelsea and Manchester City should the former try to sign Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney. The youngster’s performances has raised the interest of quite a few handful of top clubs. Celtic’s boss Brendan Rodgers himself is said to be readying for bids for his man. With Luke Shaw set to miss the start of the season, United may need to invest in a left back.

MATTEO ADMISSION

Manchester United utility man Matteo Darmian has admitted that he may leave the club in the summer. The Italian International has had a stop-start campaign but has become a regular over the past month or so. Despite this, Darmian revealed that he will think about his future in the summer.

GRIEZMANN UPDATE

Reports suggesting Antoine Griezmann has told Real Madrid he will move to Manchester United should Atletico cash in on him. Griezmann reportedly told the same to Real president Florentino Perez.
