United release retro away kit for 2017/18

Adidas have unveiled United’s new away kit for the next season. The black kit will have the classic three stripes, logo and club badge all in white. The kit has been described as “Inspired by ‘92”, and resembles the bold graphic design of the 1991-92 United away jersey worn by legends like Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and David Beckham.

This iconic kit with a modern makeover will be prepared from recycled materials and will have technological innovations like breathable fabrics and mesh engineering, as per the club’s official statement. United last donned an all-black away kit in Louis Van Gaal’s final season, and the only major difference was that the stripes, logo and club badge were of orange colour.

David De Gea, Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Ander Herrera and Jesse Lingard showed off the new kit in the club’s first post, while Phil Jones, Daley Blind, Luke Shaw and Wayne Rooney were included in the second sneak peek.

The launch of the new kit has sent some United fans into a frenzy, as De Gea donning the new jersey could mean that United hope to retain their prized asset beyond this season. However, the inclusion of players could be regardless of their future scenarios, as players like Rooney, Shaw and Phil Jones, who are all expected to leave this summer, were also included in the launch programme.

United players will wear this kit for the first time during the pre-season tour. It has already been announced that United will face LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake City, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Valerenga during the tour, which commences on July 15.

The kit, which will be available at Adidas and United’s official stores, is priced at £89.95 (€119.95) for the authentic version, and £54.95 (€69.95) for the replica version.
