Rooney’s Future & Mata Wants Griezmann

Wayne Rooney has revealed that he already has offers on the table as disclosed that he was considering his future at Old Trafford. Rooney said: “I’ve played for two Premier League clubs and they’re the only two Premier League clubs I’ll play for. There are lots of offers on the table, both in England and abroad, and that’s what I have to decide on. I’ve got some decisions to make now over the next few weeks so I will talk with my family and then I’ll decide.” When further questioned as to whether he made a decision or not, Rooney replied: “More or less, yes.”

The last two days saw reports of Barcelona interest in United’s Ander Herrera. Ernesto Valverde, who worked with Herrera during their time at Athletic Bilbao, reportedly had him at the very top of his transfer list. But United have ‘laughed off’ these reports and expect Herrera to sit down for contract talks soon. Herrera is widely tipped to be United’s next Captain should and if Rooney leaves.

Juan Mata has endorsed United’s bid to make Griezmann a United player saying that he believes that the player is a ‘great player.’ Speaking to Cadena SER, Mata joked that he would take a 6 out of 10 because it is okay. On a serious note, he said: “Griezmann is a great player and I like great players. He has quality and he gets goals. I don’t know him but he seems like a good person.”

Meanwhile, United remain poised to activate Griezmann’s £85m release clause. Mourinho remains confident of getting his No.1 target for the summer, especially after sealing a Champions League place by winning the Europa League. Griezmann has consistently broken the 20-25 goal barrier in the past three season scoring 83 goals in the process.

Marouane Fellaini has pledged his devotion to Jose Mourinho. Speaking of Mourinho, Fellaini said: “When I feel that people trust me, I’m prepared to do everything. If I have to break my for him (Mourinho) I’ll do it. That’s me. Even if I’m in pain, I’ll play.” Fellaini has so often been criticized by sections of his own supporters but Mourinho has time and time again trusted the Big Belgian. Fellaini’s celebration with Mourinho during the EFL Cup semi-finals against Hull is another pointer to their healthy relationship.

Manchester United have had 8 players in the Europa League Team of the Season. Sergio Romero, Eric Bailly, Daley Blind, Antonio Valencia, Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were named to the 18 man squad.

Manchester United are working to get buy Torino sensation Andrea Belotti who Mourinho sees as a partner for transfer target Griezmann. Belotti has an £85m release clause and the club is working to bring it down. He has scored 27 goals in all competitions this season. Mourinho wants to use the Belotti and Griezmann signings to send a message to rivals and secure deals before the new season starts.
