RETAINED LIST REVEALED
Manchester United revealed the players retained and released yesterday. Surprisingly and unsurprisingly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the only player on the list of players released by United. As things stand, Ibrahimovic will not be a United player come July. It is also understood that the United have offered Ibrahimovic the use of club facilities as he steps up his recovery from cruciate ligament damage. Ibrahimovic could yet resign with United, with the player understood to be open to the idea. His agent Mino Raiola has also gone on record to say that Zlatan wants to stay in England.
SET TO FLY
Latest rumors suggest that Alvaro Morata will travel to Manchester on Monday to finalize and complete a move from Real Madrid. A £64m fee was said to be agreed upon by the two clubs. A four-year deal with the option of extending for a further year is set to be signed upon in the coming days.
NO REUNION
Manchester United will not be facing Cristiano Ronaldo in the UEFA Super Cup at the start of the new season, as Real Madrid will be giving their star man an extended summer break. Ronaldo won the Euros last summer and is set to play in the Confederations Cup next week. And with the World Cup just on the horizon, Real will give Ronaldo the rest that he deserves.
PERFECT RESPONSE
Ander Herrera has been heavily linked with the Captain’s armband at Old Trafford. After once playing down speculation, he has done it again. Herrera said: “‘I am very thankful for the people who think so… but I prefer to be careful with that. All the United captains have won everything for the club but I haven’t done yet. Hopefully one day I can. But to be honest I just want to keep playing and improving.’ With Rooney set to leave, Herrera might be the Captain the fans want.
CHELSEA TARGET’S DREAM
Antonio Conte wants to snap up Lazio’s Felipe Anderson but the player said that he ‘dreams’ of a move to United. United were linked to the Brazilian last summer but the rumors have been low key this time around. But Anderson said: “Every player dreams of playing for a team like United. After my season that was very good in the second year, there has always been a lot of speculation. If an opportunity shows up, or when I present myself at Lazio, I have to present myself very well.”
WEDNESDAY IS THE DAY
Manchester United will announce the transfer of Victor Lindelof on Wednesday. The deal is subject to a transfer. Lindelof will sign a five-year deal. Benfica and United agreed upon a fee close to £35-£40m yesterday.
