Lindelof close as keeper linked with Wearside Move

LINDELOF SPOTTED

Victor Lindelof was spotted entering United’s training base at Carrington a short while ago. He was driven into the complex in a Chevrolet and is set have his medical and meet the United staff. He will likely be unveiled as a United player today or tomorrow.

SUNDERLAND LINKS

With Jordan Pickford completing a £30m move to Everton yesterday, Sunderland are in the market for a new goalkeeper. Among the names linked is United’s Sam Johnstone. Johnstone spent the end of last season on loan at Aston Villa. Johnstone is expected to leave United this summer and Villa is one of the interest clubs. Villa remain favourites to land Johnstone but Sunderland could also be a potential destination for the youngster.

BACK TO WORK ALREADY

Manchester United players Luke Shaw and Ashley Young have reportedly joined Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Carrington. All three players were injured at the end of the previous season but have started their road to full fitness ahead of schedule in a bid to impress Jose Mourinho. This is the second season that Shaw has reported to Carrington early after last year’s recovery from a double leg break.

PREMIER LEAGUE FIXTURES REVEALED

Manchester United will face West Ham United on the opening day of the season at Old Trafford. United travel to Liverpool on October 14th while welcoming them to Old Trafford on March 10th. The Manchester Derbies will be played on December 9th and April 7th with the latter being at the Etihad Stadium. United also face Arsenal at home in their third last match before closing out the season against Watford. The run in is not as tricky as the season gone by.

PERISIC DELAY

Despite a lot of steam in the Ivan Perisic to Manchester United story at the start of the month and the subsequent ‘decline’ in interest, United are still interested in signing the Croat. Inter Milan have to raise £26m to stay in the right side of the Financial Fair Play rules and United will be looking to take advantage of Inter’s predicament to get their man for a cut price fee. With Inter still holding out for £50m, it is expected that the asking price will fall. United could possibly get their man for £35-40m and if lucky for as ‘little’ as £30m.

INTERNATIONAL REDS

Manchester United stars Paul Pogba lined up against club teammate Phil Jones in France’s friendly vs England. Pogba was arguably the man of the match as he dominated the midfield and outperformed PFA Player of the Year N’Golo Kante despite the latter being in world beating form. Pogba was instrumental in setting up France’s 3-2 win. Pundits were unanimous in their praise for Pogba. Jones was by far the best English defender in the back three.

In other matches, Sergio Romero was rested as Argentina ran out 6-0 winners in Singapore.
