GOMES MOVE ON THE CARDS?
Manchester United have opened negotiations with Barcelona for a move for Andre Gomes. He was targeted by both United and Real Madrid but the player opted to move to Catalonia. But after a frustrating season at the Camp Nou, he is willing to force a transfer through. United are among the favorites for Gomes and could get him for as little as £30m. Gomes is also represented by Jorge Mendes, Jose Mourinho’s agent.
REALLY? RONALDO?
Reports of Cristiano Ronaldo wanting out of Real cease to stop. Yesterday saw Ronaldo tell his Portuguese teammates of his desire to leave Madrid. United and PSG are the only clubs with the cash available to force a move for the Champions League winner. Marca have reported that Ronaldo has conveyed his ‘irreversible’ decision to Perez. Perez will not hold Ronaldo against his will. Transfer fee and salary could burn a £349m hole in United’s pocket.
DIER VALUED
Manchester United have been told by Tottenham that £50m would be enough to nab Eric Dier. The Englishman is one of Mourinho’s prime summer targets. Mourinho wants Dier to eventually replace Michael Carrick. United reportedly had a bid for him rejected in January. Dier can play in both the centre of defense or just ahead in defensive midfield. The latter position is where will be used extensively should he move to United.
MORATA MOVE UNAFFECTED
Manchester United and Real Madrid will not let a potential move for Cristiano Ronaldo affect the currently under negotiation for Alvaro Morata. Former Madrid President Roman Calderon does not believe that Ronaldo’s future will affect Morata’s, he said: “Alvaro Morata is not happy at Real Madrid. He hasn’t played and it’s the kind of deal and agreement which is great for all sides. The player, Manchester United and Real Madrid. All parties will be very happy with the deal.”
SOCIEDAD INTEREST
Real Sociedad have joined the Adnan Januzaj fan-club. They are the latest in a growing list of potential destinations for the faltering Belgian. Roma reportedly contacted United over Januzaj and have stolen a march on rivals like Everton, West Ham, and Juventus. With the increasing number of clubs, United will be hoping to get something in the range of £10-15m. Sociedad president confirmed his club’s interest in Januzaj. He said: “It’s true that we are interested (in Januzaj) but we are not in talks with Manchester or with him. We are waiting for the decision of Manchester United and then we will act. There are more teams interested in him and his signing won’t be easy.”
