SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT IMMINENT
Manchester United are close to reaching an agreement for Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic if reports from several British outlets are to be believed. The move will be a mere formality once the expected transfer of Monaco star Tiemoune Bakayoko to Chelsea goes through. United were also in the race for Bakayoko but preferred to sign Matic. He will be expected to provide defensive cover affording Paul Pogba a free role.
GOMES BATTLE
Manchester United and Juventus are set to do battle for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes. Super-agent Jorge Mendes was spotted in Barcelona potentially discussing a deal for the Portuguese international. Mendes reportedly informed the Barcelona chiefs that the club are willing to make an offer Gomes. With Barcelona looking to raise cash for the Veratti transfer, United could be a destination for Gomes though Juventus will provide competition.
BACK TO MORATA
Manchester United have refocused their attention to signing Alvaro Morata after Real President publically backed his superstar Portuguese. Ronaldo is now expected to stay at Madrid and United will go all-out in their attempt to sign the Spaniard. Morata is also inclined to a move to United rather than Chelsea.
LUK WHO’S INTERESTED
Manchester United are reportedly not out of the race for Romelu Lukaku, just yet. In news that will anger Antonio Conte even more, United and Munich are still in the hunt for top Chelsea summer transfer target Lukaku. While Chelsea are still favorites, United and Bayern’s interest will be huge blow to Chelsea. With Lewandowski also said to be unsettled at Munich, Bayern could make the multi-million pound move a reality.
GERMAN THREAT
After news of Robert Lewandowski getting unsettled at Munich due to a lack of support from Munich in his quest to be Bundesliga topscorer, United and Chelsea were linked with the Pole. But Bayern released a statement which read: “Robert Lewandowski has a contract with FC Bayern, which he recently extended to 2021. Bayern are not thinking about any move for Lewandowski. There are no talks with other clubs, and there will not be. If other clubs negotiate with a player who still has a long-term contract, they risk punishment from FIFA. The player’s agent also assured us that he did not hold talks with any other club.’
LA, WELCOME TO ZLATAN?
Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s sportswear company A-Z (Amateur to Zlatan) yesterday released an image featuring Ibrahimovic and the words: “Welcome to Los Angeles”. LA Galaxy are one of the favorites to land Ibrahimovic and the latest move has done little to quell speculation.
