POGBA RESPONDS TO CRITICS

Paul Pogba was repeatedly criticised for his performances in his first campaign back at Old Trafford. The Frenchman in an interview with Esquire magazine took the opportunity to hit back his critics. When asked about Mourinho’s worst team comments after the Europa League triumph, Pogba said: “We’re the worst team in the world, yeah. But we have three trophies. Are we the worst? OK, no problem, I accept that. I accept that we didn’t play well, we didn’t do this, we didn’t do that. I know what we did — we won three trophies. That’s all I know. And that’s all that matters. Because you can be the best team in the world, you can play great football and you win zero trophies. And who remembers them? No one. Right?’

INTER TO RIVAL JUVE

Inter Milan are set to enter the race for Manchester United’s Matteo Darmian. Darmian is unsettled at United and is believed to have informed Mourinho of his desire to leave the club for more game time. Inter have contacted United about a probable move and will have to beat Juventus to sign the versatile defender. With United’s interest in Ivan Perisic, the club may look to make a player-plus-cash deal with the Nerazzurri with Perisic coming to United.

EYEING TIERNEY

Manchester United have once again been linked with a move for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney. The Scotland International is highly regarded by Mourinho and a £15m move has been mooted. With Mourinho’s reluctance to play Shaw in the left-back position, United might make a swoop for the 20 year old. Tierney was previously linked with United during the season and was one of the best players in the Scottish league despite the tender age of 20.

TRANFER REQUEST?

Manchester United target Renato Sanches has reportedly made a transfer request at Bayern Munich. United missed out on signing the highly rated Portuguese midfielder last season but are clear to sign him this campaign. Sanches was hardly afforded game time by Carlo Ancelotti last campaign and Bayern will sell him for a fee reportedly to as low as £23.5m. Whether United make a move for Sanches remains to be seen.

FABINHO LATEST

Monaco are waiting on an offer from PSG for United to return with a bid as they French Champions are reluctant to sell one of their star players to their closest title rivals. While Mourinho wants Fabinho, Ed Woodward has mismanaged the signing of the midfielder. It remains to be seen whether United sign the Brazilian midfielder.
