SQUAD NUMBERS REVEALED
Manchester United revealed the squad numbers for new signings Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku. Lindelof will wear to the No.2 jersey previously worn by Gary Neville and is lying empty since Rafael’s departure in 2015. Lukaku will take over the No.9 jersey from Ibrahimovic. Lukaku confirmed earlier that he will wear the No.9 jersey in an interview during the time of his unveiling as a United player.
ZLATAN REJECTS BID
Zlatan Ibrahimovic reportedly rejected a £6m a year offer from LA to reportedly stay at Old Trafford. While Ibrahimovic is still out injured with a serious knee injury, clubs have courted him. Ibrahimovic is expected to return to the field around October and could sign a new contract at United around the same time. WAR CHEST REVEALED
Despite spending a huge £100m on two transfers, it has been revealed that United still have around £100m more to acquire their targets. Mourinho is targeting at least three new signings. Ivan Perisic and a defensive midfielder are the priority and cover in defence may be sought.
BAKAYOKO’S A TEASE
Tiemoune Bakayoko send Chelsea fans into panic and United fans into a tizzy with a tweet that said he was in Manchester. Though it was soon deleted, Chelsea fans started panicking after already losing Lukaku to Mourinho and Manchester. Bakayoko IS in the UK and was seen having dinner with Chelsea’s David Luiz and Willian. Though no announcement has been made yet, United are reportedly trying to hijack the deal.
HERRERA CONTRACTS BEGIN
Manchester United are reportedly in contract negotiations with Ander Herrera. Herrera who was the Player of the Season at United in the previous season, was courted by Barcelona this summer. Herrera who enjoys life at United is keen to extend his stay at Old Trafford. United are expected to offer as much as £175k a week to the Spaniard.
ANOTHER ACADEMY ADDITION
Manchester United have acquired another gem for their academy in Ajax’s Millen Bars. The move was confirmed by the 16 year old in an Instagram post. The winger was linked to Chelsea and Arsenal but had has heart set on a move to Old Trafford. Nicky Butt’s academy continues to sign highly rated prospects at break neck speed.
BREAKING RECORDS ALREADY
Manchester United’s marquee signing has already broken a United record barely a week on from joining the club from Everton. The announcement tweet on Twitter was retweeted around 93k times making it the most retweeted tweet ever on United’s twitter handle. Fans will be hoping Lukaku breaks goal scoring records left right and centre once the season commences.
