Jose wants another transfer, Pogba tipped to be Captain and more on Matic and Perisic

DERBY DELIGHT

Manchester United eased to a comfortable 2-0 win over neighbors Manchester City in Houston, Texas. Goals from Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford in the space of two minutes before halftime secured the victory. The overall performance of the United side would have pleased Jose.

TRANsFER FAILINGS

Mourinho not for the first time this summer, brought United’s transfer dealings to the forefront in a press conference. Mourinho was critical of the way transfers are being handled in his latest comments. He said: “When I look to the team and Lukaku, Lindelof, I would like my squad to be here, my whole squad, if you manage to get one more player – I’m not even crying for two – if we get one player as soon as possible.”

AURIER DEMAND CONFIRMED

PSG boss Unai Emery confirmed that right back Serge Aurier wants to leave. United are one of the teams linked with Aurier and might look to snap up a right back available at around £25m, comparatively lower than the fee being paid for right backs. Emery said: “I spoke with Serge to tell him that I wanted him to stay. He told me that he wants to leave and he preferred staying in Paris to prepare for his departure.”

NEW KIT UNVIELED

Manchester United have released their third kit. The kit is predominantly grey, a color not worn by United since the infamous 1996 kits. The fan-designed kit features the silhouette of United’s Holy Trinity – Sir Charlton, George Best and Denis Law.

PERISIC VALUATION YET TO BE MET

United are yet to officially meet Inter Milan’s valuation of Ivan Perisic despite rumors of a deal being reached. The news was confirmed by Inter’s director Walter Sabatini, who said: “You all know what Inter is asking for him but the right offer is yet to arrive.” Perisic travelled with Inter on the club’s pre-season Tour of China and Singapore and now looks set to stay at the San Siro for at least another year.

MATIC FEE NAMED

Manchester United could yet sign Nemanja Matic from Chelsea. The Champions reportedly placed a €45m price tag on Matic’s head, a move that saw Juventus pull out of the running for the midfielder. United and Inter are the only clubs legitimately in the running for Matic though Inter may not make for the player at the price being quoted.

NEW CAPTAIN?

Michael Carrick tipped Paul Pogba to become United’s next Captain. Carrick believes that Pogba has the confidence and character to become a successful United Captain. Carrick was quoted as saying: “‘He’s certainly got the presence, character and belief to pull it off. All the time I’m sure the manager is planning a long way behind me, for someone to take on that mantle, and he’s probably in that bracket where you’d say – ‘yeah, he can be a future captain. But you need a group of players and not just one individual, and he’s certainly in that group.”
