COME AND GET ME PLEA
Renato Sanches issued a virtual come and get me plea to interested clubs after saying that he wants a change after a disappointing season in Bavaria. Sanches was quoted as saying: “Personally, I am not satisfied with my first year in Munich. Of course, I’d like to play more. That’s why I would like to change and go to a club that can give me more minutes.” Sanches also talked about the possibility of him moving to AC Milan. Milan are one of the favorites to sign the 19-year-old alongside United.
JOSE’S LOVING IT
Mourinho revealed that he is enjoying the togetherness of United’s squad as the buildup to the new campaign continues. Mourinho commented: “These guys are phenomenal, to live with them is phenomenal. They are big friends and good guys. I have, to be honest, what makes me feel like these are my players.” Mourinho gate-crashing Lingard’s interview with MUTV is an example of the unity in this group of players.
WORKING HARDER THAN EVER BEFORE
Jose Mourinho also lavished Anthony Martial with praise and appreciated the Frenchman’s efforts in trying to win him over. Martial’s otherworldly run against Madrid brought back memories of his debut season. The comments will be even sweeter for Martial after the youngster was singled out for criticism for than once last campaign. Mourinho said: “(Martial’s) working. He’s working harder than before, to be honest. When you score twice maybe it helps the happiness to be back, confidence to be back. As an attacking player you can play well but if you don’t score the happiness is not there.”
CONCEDING DEFEAT
Mourinho also conceded defeat in his side’s chase for Tottenham’s Eric Dier. The Tottenham man was reportedly the subject of three bids by United this summer with the third being around £60m. Mourinho said: “They keep Dele Alli, [Harry] Kane and [Toby] Alderweireld, they keep Eric Dier, they keep everyone they want to keep. They sold Kyle Walker I think because they wanted to sell. And probably because they think Trippier is as good as Walker. And he’s younger than Walker.”
FINAL MATCH
Manchester United face Barcelona in their final match of the US leg of the Tour 2017. Kickoff is 7:30 pm local time or 12:30 am BST (27th July). A win would see United come out of the US Tour with 5 wins out 5 and leaving the possibility of a second International Champions Cup title in three years.
