Transfer Rumours: Two In, Two Out?

United have had a pretty successful summer thus far, signing three out of the four players Mourinho wanted. A number of players continue to be linked with moves to Old Trafford and a couple of youngsters have also been linked with moves away from the club.

SERGE AURIER

Manchester United were heavily linked with a move for wantaway PSG right-back Serge Aurier. It was reported in midweek that a deal was in place with the player and only the fee with the Parisian club was to be agreed. Chelsea too entered the race for the right-back who can be an ideal utility man in midweek. Despite being favorites and very close to a move worth about £27m, United pulled out of the move on Mourinho’s advice. The speculation cooled close to the weekend while Inter Milan also enter the race for the 24-year-old Ivorian.

GARETH BALE

Another player heavily linked with a move to United was the Welsh wizard, Gareth Bale. With Madrid really keen on signing Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe but unwilling to pay the fee being demanded (upwards of £150m), Bale could be offloaded in a move to raise money.

Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane and Florentino Perez even reached an agreed to offload the player. Real also took a step further and ‘offered’ Bale to United and Chelsea. Chelsea are the only club likely to challenge United for the services of Bale should he leave Madrid this summer.

A fee in excess of £90m has been talked about in the back pages. The move would make United one of the favorites for the title if they aren’t one already.

CAMERON BORTHWICK –JACKSON

The youngster has been tipped to leave United temporarily on loan this summer. After a disappointing season at Wolves last time around, Borthwick-Jackson will want to move to a club that would guarantee regular game time.

Leeds United are favorites to sign him on loan for the upcoming campaign. They have beaten the likes of Ajax for the 20-year-old’s services.

Tabloids reported a deal was in place but the official confirmation was yet to be made.

TIMOTHY FOSU-MENSAH

Another highly rated prospect Timothy Fosu-Mensah is set to walk through the exit door at Old Trafford. Watford and Crystal Palace are in the running for the Dutchman. A move to Selhurst Park and a reunion with Frank de Boer was the favored move for the player. Mourinho’s wishes to keep the player at Old Trafford but a lack of playing time last season stalled Fosu-Mensah’s development.

A loan move to a Premier League club is the best move for further development of the youngster who has been tipped for a big future at Old Trafford.
