Left-back prioritised? Another Perisic offer and United miss out on starlet.

IN THE MARKET FOR A FULL BACK

With confirmation of Fosu-Mensah loan trickling in, United were heavily linked with a move for either PSG’s Serge Aurier or Spurs’ fullback Danny Rose. The left-full back spot looks like a liability right now and Mourinho may look to strengthen his options ahead of the return of Luke Shaw. Aurier can play a number of positions in defense and will be a cheaper option. French media reported that a deal was in place with Aurier and the Frenchman would complete move bar the visa issue.

ANOTHER PERISIC RUN

Manchester United will submit a take it or leave it offer for Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic. United have courted the Croat for the most part of the summer but the club’s failed to reach an agreement with Inter remaining stubborn on their asking price. The offer will reportedly be north of £45m and might just be enough to convince Inter to part with Perisic. United will make a similar offer for Bale in the coming days.

LINEKER’S ADVICE

Jose Mourinho’s love-hate (mostly hate) relationship with Anthony Martial continued into the new season after the latter was overlooked for the Super Cup clash and spent the entirety of the match on the bench with Jose preferring a more direct approach using Fellaini. Mourinho praised Martial in pre-season for his hard work but still failed to select the standout player from a couple of seasons ago. Gary Lineker said that chances will Martial’s way and it was upto the player to take them. Martial had a disappointing season after a stunning debut campaign. Lineker said that with the Champions League to contend with, Martial will get his chance.

STILL UNDECIDED

Many at Old Trafford would welcome Chicharito with open arms should he have returned to United this summer. But instead he chose to go to West Ham and will in all likelihood lead the line against United on Sunday. When asked whether he would celebrate if he scores, Chicharito said: “‘It’s my old club, my old fans, my old stadium but it’ll be my first goal for West Ham. I am not thinking about the celebration, I just want to have the chance to start and get my team the result.”

Chicha you can score as long as United win!

UNITED MISS OUT

Manchester United missed out on the signing of Ramadan Sobhi, dubbed the Egyptian Messi. The 20 year old was targeted by United after an impressive debut campaign under Mark Hughes but Sobhi ignored the interest and penned a new five-year deal at the club.
