United’s window over but Rose, Perisic and Draxler linked with moves to Old Trafford

Despite repeated statements by Jose Mourinho that his side are not looking for another player or two to increase squad depth, United continue to be linked with a players be it Perisic, Draxler or Danny Rose. Though it is highly unlikely that United will make a move this late in the window and have all but ironed out the squad, speculation continues.

JULIAN DRAXLER

Manchester United and Julian Draxler were linked last summer and now again this summer. With the arrival of Neymar in the French capital, the influential attacker has been deemed surplus to requirements just a year into his career in the Ligue 1.

However, United are not the only side looking at the player as Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool are also monitoring developments. The Gunners are the favourites to land the German as a direct replacement for the potentially outgoing Alexis Sanchez.

A fee of £32m is said to be enough to convince PSG to part with Draxler. Though United are not expected to make a move, it has been suggested that the price, regarded to be a bargain for a player of Draxler’s quality, might force United to take the plunge.

IVAN PERISIC

United have given up on the transfer of Ivan Perisic for the fourth time this summer. This week saw reports emerge that United’s chief recruitment officer Ed Woodward meet with Perisic’s agent to try and persuade Inter to reduce the asking price for Perisic. But it seems as is that move has failed and United have exhausted their options and are fed up with Inter’s stubbornness.

Perisic is also involved in contract negotiations with the club and is set to snub a move to United in favor of extending his stay at the San Siro.

DANNY ROSE

United continue to be among the favourites to sign Spurs’ left-back Danny Rose. While Luke Shaw is set to return to competitive football with an appearance against the Swansea u-23s on Monday and Jose’s new found trust in the Englishman will in all likelihood scupper a move for Rose.

That being said, United are also looking to tie down Shaw to an extended contract and are set to exercise the option of extending his current contract with runs until next summer by another year.

A move for Rose seems very unlikely and he is also said to be willing to stay in North London for another season before looking for a move to a club like United or Chelsea.

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC

Ibrahimovic is another player doing the rounds. While it is almost certain that the top scorer from last season will rejoin the club on a new one year deal, it has been reported that the formalities are expected to be completed by the end of the month and Ibrahimovic could become a United player once again.

Currently on a vacation, talks are being handled by Mino Raiola and it looks as if Ibrahimovic would have to settle for a terms which are significantly less than what he earned the previous season.
