Here’s how Manchester United’s players fared in the 4-1 victory over CSKA Moscow in the UEFA Champions League-
De Gea- 8
Brilliant performance from the Spaniard, who’s shown yet again why he’s one of the best, if not the best, in the world. His saves from Dzagoev, Vitinho and Chalov’s shots were simply outrageous, and the match could’ve easily been very different had he not made those saves. It was a little surprising that he conceded the goal in the last minutes, but that doesn’t take anything away from his performance.
Another flawless game for the player reborn, who was the skipper tonight. Didn’t put a foot wrong but was subbed off probably to keep him fresh for Saturday.
Slotted in seamlessly at the right of a three man central defence. Didn’t let anything and anybody pass through him, but could’ve kept more concentration and they would’ve had another clean sheet.
Solid performance from the defender, who’s been reliable whenever called upon. Didn’t have any qualms at the back, and supported the team going forwards well.
His best game in a United shirt till date. Looked like a different defender than he’s usually been. Was so confident that he was taking on players in the opponent’s half! Flawless defending and improved composure will certainly have helped him.
Doesn’t look as comfortable at left-back than he does at left wing-back. Supplemented the attack well and his pass for Mkhitaryan in the first half was simply outstanding. Didn’t have to defend too much, though.
Quietly effective, yet again. Everything he does, he makes it look so easy. Simply unstoppable at the moment.
Solid performance from the Spaniard, who looked like the last season’s Herrera we all love. Was everywhere on the pitch, and the timing of his tackles and interceptions were second to none.
Another brilliant performance, this time behind a two-men attack. A well taken goal caps off an industrious performance.
Does he think about the families of opposition defenders before making a mockery out of their defending? The Frenchman’s really been a class apart this season, and everything he tries is coming off for him. Oh, and there’s the little thing about another goal and a couple of assists as well.
Another brace to keep his stunning form at United intact. Will not underperform surely when he’s got so much support, as was evident tonight. Could’ve had a hat-trick but was unable to beat the mighty Akinfeev for the third time.
Replaced Mkhitaryan in the second half. Could’ve scored with his first touch itself but was thwarted by Akinfeev. Made a couple of mazy runs but was unable to get on the score sheet.
Replaced Young after the hour mark. Solid game for the Italian, who has rarely made any mistakes this season.
Replaced man-of-the-match Martial who seemed to have had a knock. Didn’t do anything to suggest that he must start over the Frenchman on Saturday, and he seriously needs to work on his desperation to score, which was evident by his free-kick in the final minutes.
Subs Not Used- Romero, McTominay, Mata, Tuanzebe.
