International Roundup, De Gea speaks out and deal for Polish wonderkid agreed

LOVE AND RESPECT

David De Gea dropped a hint that he would resign with United sooner rather than later. While Real Madrid’s wish to sign De Gea is no secret in the footballing world, it seems inevitable now that De Gea would extend his stay at United considering his recent comments. De Gea said,” In the end, in England, I have a great affection and respect that I do not notice so much here. But every time I come to the national team I feel fondness inside, and it is the most important thing.” While affection and respect may not be telling factors in which ever decision De Gea makes, it seems likely that the world’s best shot-stopper will continue to stay at United in the long term.

MONACO ENTER FELLAINI RACE

The leading French sides seem to be doing their best to land United contract rebel Marouane Fellaini this summer on a free. While it has long been reported that PSG are among the frontrunners for Fellaini’s signature, it has emerged that Monaco are also in the running. Fellaini has no shortage of suitors and the top two French clubs seem to have taken a liking for him. While it remains to be seen which club Fellaini would play for, there is no shortage of top European clubs wanting his signature.

INTERNATIONAL REDS

It was a brilliant day all round for United players playing for their countries last night. Romelu Lukaku had the best performance among United players, a trend that has increased to levels unimaginable this autumn, and scored a brace and had an assist for the Belgium Red Devils against Saudi Arabia.

De Gea managed to win bragging rights over his backup Sergio Romero as Spain thrashed Argentina 6-1. The highlight of the game was De Gea’s 80 yard assist for Isco who bagged a hat-trick for the Reds. Pogba also put in a man of the match performance for France as he scored a stunning freekick and set up another in a routine win for the Les’ Blues.

Eric Bailly and Alexis Sanchez won and drew with their respective national teams in other matches. English duo Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard dew 1-1 with Italy at Wembley.

MOURINHO CONTACTS TARGET

Jose Mourinho has reportedly contacted summer target Samuel Umtiti personally ahead of a potential move to United this summer. United remain poised to pay the release clause that Umtiti has with Barcelona this summer should the defender fail to agree on terms with his current club who remain unwilling to meet his wage demands. It would be one of the transfer sagas to keep an eye on this summer.

UNITED SIGN POLISH PRODIGY

Widespread reports have indicated that United have beaten Manchester City in the race for the signature for Polish wonderkid Lukasz Bejger. He is another 16 year old signed by the Nicky Butt lead academy joining the likes of Millen Baars, Aliou Traore among others. The teenager can play in both the centre back and right back spots and is one of the best talents emerging from the Eastern European country. He had a trial with both Manchester clubs last August and has finally agreed to seal a deal to the Red half of the City.
