Bulletin: Transfer news and Ray Wilkings passes away

UNITED TO RAID THE BRIDGE AGAIN?

Back pages gossip has suggested that Jose Mourinho will look towards his former team Chelsea again for reinforcements. The player in question is Brazilian winger Willian. United have shown an interest in the player last summer and even before that and the player himself has confirmed such an interest in the past. A 30m figure has been touted and such a move should not be beyond United. United signed Nemanja Matic last summer for around 40m and the player has been one of the better players this campaign.

ON THE WAY OUT?

With the club eyeing up another attacker in Willian, then record transfer Juan Mata has been linked with an exit this summer. Mata despite not having great numbers has played an important role for United this term. Mata was previously linked with a move away from United with the arrival of Mourinho two seasons prior but has earned his place under Mourinho. But that place could be in jeopardy come summer.

RAY WILKINS PASSES AWAY

Manchester United legend Ray Wilkins passed away yesterday. He played at United for 5 seasons in the late seventies and the early eighties and was highly appreciated by fans. He died as a result of the cardiac arrest last week. Rest in Peace Ray.

MOURINHO UP FOR GONG

Jose Mourinho has been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Month Award for March. United picked up three victories this month with the comeback against Crystal Palace, the win over Liverpool and Swansea at home. Mourinho is up against Guardiola, Claude Puel and Sean Dyche. Mourinho is one of the favourites for the award.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARD

Nemanja Matic, Romelu Lukaku and Ashley Young have been nominated for United’s in-house Player of the Month award. Lukaku was in the lead on the Twitter poll at the time of writing. Lukaku scored the equalizer against Palace, was instrumental in the buildup to both goals against Liverpool and scored the opener against Swansea. He also found the back of the net against Brighton in the FA Cup and Seville in the Champions League. Matic also had a solid month with an injury time winner at Palace and dominant performances in midfield all throughout the month.

LINKED WITH FABINHO

After last summer’s saga, Fabinho is yet again being linked with a move to United with the player supposedly “open” to the idea of joining United. Fabinho can fill in at both right back and in central midfield and will be available for a fee in the range of 40m. United have not ‘shown’ an interest in the player and would have to beat PSG to get their man.
