United’s romance with European fullbacks continues while Real Madrid rekindle an interest in De Gea

LOAN MOVE FOR SHAW?

Barcelona are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Luke Shaw on a one-year loan deal. The Englishman has been at the receiving end of Mourinho’s wrath and is expected to make way for a new signing this summer. While Shaw moving to Barcelona was reported on earlier, it looks as if any move is going to be a temporary one. Barcelona want to add Shaw to their ranks despite the sensational form of Jordi Alba this campaign and want to provide competition for the latter. United have already scouted Alex Sandro as part of their efforts to replace Shaw this summer.

UNITED IN FOR MONACO STAR?

While someone of you may be thinking of Fabinho, United have in fact been linked with Monaco’s French fullback Djibril Sidibe. United have already been linked with a whole plethora of names of players playing fullback and their latest ‘interest’ sees them linked with the French right back. While not said to be a priority signing for Jose Mourinho, upgrading Valencia does remain something the gaffer wants to get on with. Valencia is 33 and despite his impressive form has no semblance of a cross, something that Mourinho wants to change considering United don’t have an out and out right-back playing for the team.

MADRID BACK TO DE GEA?

Real Madrid have reportedly reopened their interest in David De Gea just days after a report said that the Spaniard is close to signing a new contract at United. Madrid are also said to be monitoring the situations of both Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial. This may be a last-ditch attempt to get David De Gea after having seen attempts to sign the Spanish shot-stopper fail every summer window. Madrid accept that Chelsea’s Courtois is a more realistic target but want to give De Gea one final shot.

JUVENTUS ON HIS MIND?

Juventus and Martial’s agent have made no secret about the Turin club’s wishes to sign the United left-winger this summer. While Mourinho has maintained that Martial is not for sale and the player himself has taken to social media to debunk transfer rumours last summer, he may have to do that again this term with increased speculation about his future. Martial hasn’t scored since the arrival of Sanchez and was on course for a personal best at United before his arrival. He remains contracted until 2019, with the option of extending for another year. Mourinho is said to have placed the extension of Martial’s contract on the same level of importance as David De Gea’s contract and United officials are reportedly at work on both contracts. Martial is a fan favourite and had been enjoying an excellent campaign until the recent loss in form.
