Amazing statistic about United’s academy graduates and Martial on the way out?

Afternoon Bulletin

Anthony Martial has reportedly refused to sign a new contract at Old Trafford yesterday and is reportedly looking for a new challenge per RMC. While Martial’s potential departure has been reported by other media, the latest report by RMC seems genuine as Martial and the newspaper have a history. RMC were the first to report Martial moving to United and the player’s agent also gave an interview regarding the infamous shirt change to the same. Juventus are among the front runners for Martial’s signature and a summer saga is now expected. Shortly after RMC’s report, Independent claimed that Martial’s first choice was to stay at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Ryan Bertrand in the summer to replace Luke Shaw. Bertrand is valued at 25m by the Saints and the player joins a long list of full backs considered or looked at by Mourinho and his scouting team. Everton are also reportedly keen on the 28 year old and he was close to joining Manchester City in the summer. The player is expected to hand in a transfer request at the end of the season.

Alexis Sanchez has been involved in a major gaffe that will not go down well at kit makers Adidas. In a video on Instagram, Sanchez inadvertently showed glimpses of his sock to fans. The socks matched the ones leaked earlier in the season and fuelled speculation that the club were changing the primary colour of their shorts and socks. But think Sanchez can be forgiven after that performance in the second half.

Manchester United’s Academy graduates have played a big role this season in games against United’s direct rivals in the Top 6. With Pogba’s brace against City and goals from the likes of Lingard against Arsenal and Chelsea and even Rashford’s double against Liverpool have boosted these numbers. Performances like those of McTominay against both Liverpool and Chelsea suggest that United’s academy players have come a long way. It is a testament to Nicky Butt’s efforts to get the best out of their players and even Mourinho for throwing his youngsters into the frying pan and trusting them in the biggest of situations.

Sergej Milinkovic Savic has finally come out and spoken about his future which has been under scrutiny for much of the season. Teams like Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona are expected to be chasing his signature in the summer. Savic revealed that right now he is focused on helping Lazio qualify for the Champions League next term. The player’s agent revealed Premier League interest in his client earlier in the season too. Milinkovic-Savic was scouted a number of times by United this season and would be right up there among players like Fred and Jorginho that Mourinho covets to complete his midfield triumvirate.
