Martial update and a keeper on the way out?

LATEST ON MARTIAL

With yesterday’s stunning report that Anthony Martial is looking for a fresh challenge from RMS left United fans sad. But the same outlet is now reporting that United’s offer of a 5-year contract has been rejected by the Frenchman and he will only sign after getting assurances over his playing time. Martial is out of contract at the end of next season but United have the option of triggering a one-year extension until 2020. PSG and Juventus are among the clubs interested in signing Martial.

PSG ATTEMPT TO SIGN JOSE REVEALED

AS reported that French giants Paris Saint-Germain tried their best to sign United boss Jose Mourinho and reportedly offered him the world’s biggest contract for a coach to sign for them. But Mourinho is said to have emphatically refused the contract, highlighting the Portuguese’s commitment to United and the project he has started here. This is said to have happened shortly before Mourinho signed a new deal at United in January this year. Mourinho is now contracted at United until 2020.

NO DEAL

Club officials are surprised at transfer rumours linking Marcus Rashford away from United in the past couple of days. Officials say that the club will turn down any offers for the Englishman after reports of discontent over playing time. It looked like a classic move by newspapers to gain clicks using United’s name considering Rashford’s form and delight at playing for his childhood club. Laughably, the player was linked with teams like Liverpool and Chelsea, teams that he must have grown up loathing given his status as a fan who made it at the club.

ROMERO ON THE WAY OUT?

Sergio Romero is reportedly being looked at by Stoke City as a replacement for Jack Butland should the Englishman move to a bigger club. Romero has found playing time hard to come by this season but has done great whenever called upon in the Cup competitions. Romero is currently out injured after hurting himself in the International Break. Romero also signed a new four-year contract at United earlier this summer and Mourinho is keen to hold on to the Argentine shot-stopper.

UNITED HAVE TO MOVE TO EXPAND OLD TRAFFORD

According to United managing Director, Richard Arnold, United may have to spend a few seasons away from Old Trafford if the club wants to expand the Sir Bobby Charlton stand. This is because of the complex nature of the build required to expand the stand that would take the capacity of the stadium to close to the figure of 90k. But the build would a multi-season one and the club will have to play their home games away from Old Trafford for that happen. The club are officially looking at ways to increase the Old Trafford capacity.
