United send more scouts across Europe and negotiations reportedly begin over Scottish star

STRONG FINISH TARGETED

Manchester United attacker Juan Mata is targeting a strong finish to the campaign after defeat to Wear Bromwich Albion secured Manchester City the title. Mata in his weekly blog said,” It’s been a long season but we need to make sure we can compete until the end, that we keep that second position and we fight for being in another FA Cup final and try to win it.”

STEPPING UP THE CHASE

Manchester United continued to monitor summer targets this weekend. After it was revealed that United scouts watched Celtic’s rising sensation Kieran Tierney, scouts were also present to watch Serbian powerhouse Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this weekend in the Serie A. United have monitored the Serb for sometime now and could go head to head with European elite to bring the midfielder to United. He has had a breakout campaign with Lazio this season and has helped the team push for Champions League football next season.

COLTS RELEGATED

While United’s under-18s secured the Northern League title against Manchester City this week, the under-23s were relegated after results went against the team. United’s 1-1 draw against Manchester City combined with Derby and Sunderland’s win left United five points from safety with just one game to go. United will now play next campaign in Division 2 of the Premier League 2. United play Everton in their last game this league campaign.

MOURINHO DEMANDS CONSISTENCY

Mourinho conceded that City deservedly became champions at United’s expense and demanded consistency from his players. Mourinho promised that next season will be very different from this one and said that his side will put up a genuine title challenge. Mourinho said, “I trust in my work, that’s for sure. I have no reason not to trust – eight titles are eight titles and three Premier Leagues are three Premier Leagues. The last Premier League was not 20 years ago, it was three years ago. I know how to win. I believe in myself, but I don’t play. With my experience you don’t win titles with inconsistency.”

TALKS BEGIN

Manchester United have opened talks with Scottish champions Celtic for the transfer of Kieran Tierney if reports are to be believed. United scouted the left back earlier this week and the club believes that an agreement for around £20m can be reached. Tierney, aged just 20, can fill in at right back and in central defence is one of Scottish football’s most highly rated prospects.
