With everything becoming digital, the ability to purchase tickets on the door is becomingly increasingly void. This especially with the huge demand at United for tickets, means the best place to look is online.
However,
Looking online can be misleading. There’s lots of websites which advertise the sale of tickets to all of United’s games.
Firstly, this is illegal as it’s the purchase and then re-distribution of tickets which is known as ‘touting.’ In the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 – “it’s illegal to sell, or to offer to sell, or transfer tickets to matches without the authorisation of the club, or outside of one of our authorised processes.”

Thus, Manchester United, inline with the law, uphold strict regulations to ensure ticket touting is minimalised to as great an extent as possible.
Furthermore, the tickets advertised on these sites are incredibly expensive, often charging hundreds of pounds for a ticket which at face value would cost around £35-40.
Therefore, the only place to look for Manchester United tickets is through the official club website, or through hospitality packages which are directly connected to the club.

Requirements to buy tickets
The first requirement to buy United tickets is a club membership. Without a club membership it isn’t possible to buy tickets. These are currently sold out for the 22/23 season. However, the 23/24 memberships are available to purchase immediately.
Memberships come in four different packages with an additional ‘forwarding package.’
The packages are:
- Junior – U16’s only – giving almost all benefits and it’s own exclusive addons.
- Lite – Ticket access to home matches, but less benefits than others.
- Full – Ticket access with more benefits than a Lite membership.
- Premium – Ticket access with all benefits, bar Junior specific addons.
Forwarding – For an additional £15 it gives you immediate access to receiving forwarded tickets – these are tickets that are available because a fan couldn’t attend a match they’d originally bought a ticket for.
Which membership to choose?
If as a fan you want to make the upmost out of your membership, through Café and Museum tour discounts, then choosing Full, or Premium membership maybe the right choice.
However, if your priority is to just get to the games for the cheapest value, then lite is probably your best option.
Away Ticket issue
With the huge demand at United and the low tickets available for away games, these matches are only available to a select few fans. These fans include executive club members, Season ticket holders at silver level and above who purchased all home cup games this season, and accessible season ticket holders.
Therefore, as just a regular member, even with premium membership, gaining access to away games isn’t applicable.
Regular season ticket holders struggle to get away tickets because of the demand.
Therefore, unless you’re willing to join the Executive Club Membership or gain access to a season ticket, away games aren’t available.

There are five different age classes when purchasing tickets. You must buy you ticket according your age bracket.

- Over 65
- 16-17
- 18-20

Step by step guide in how to buy the tickets
- Head to ManUtd.com or the Manchester United app
- (On desktop) In the drop down menus at the top of the screen, hover over it and click Home Tickets (On devices) Go to the My United section – click Match Tickets – it’ll take you through to the official website – from there scroll down to Match Tickets and click ‘Ticket Info’
- This brings you to a list of the games United have upcoming at home. From there, find one you’re interested in and click ‘Buy Now’
- This will take you to a digital layout of the stadium, and the sections available to buy tickets will be illustrated. If a section is darkened – this means the tickets in that area of the stadium are unavailable. However, if it’s a brighter shade of red it means there are tickets still available
- Click on a brighter red section where you would want to sit, and it’ll tell you the stadium block, and show you a 360 degree view from that seat as well as the ticket price for each age class.
- This will bring you to a view of the block in which you pick the ticket within your specific age class and then click ‘add to basket’
- That will take you to the checkout. From there you put in your details and purchase the tickets
