If you’re anything like me, you will be keeping an eye on Man United news throughout the day. I can’t get enough of it. I want to know who the club is scouting, who is rumoured to be moving on, who is signing a new contract, who is doing well on international duty – anything and everything.
The mainstream media is great for established stories, but for up to the minute breaking news (and rumours, let’s be honest), there is only one platform to use: Twitter (or X).
Now, although I love a bit of gossip, there is a lot of daily noise out there that is frankly nothing more than laughable nonsense. I’m not interested in that. I want my news to at least be plausible, and that is why I follow a select list of Man Utd Twitter accounts, and I’m going to share them with you here.
So these are the biggest and best Man Utd Twitter accounts that fans should follow on X.
@UnitedStandMUFC

This is Mark Goldbridge’s account linked to his YouTube channel. It’s the biggest independent Manchester United fan community in the world, and while Mark himself is something of a marmite guy (some people even think he is playing a character), he has his ear to the ground in terms of club news.
He has sources at the club too, and having been a fan his whole life, he understands how the club works and gives some pretty interesting opinions on the day to day goings on.
That’s the point of this account though. @UnitedStandMUFC is a reaction account. It doesn’t deliver news, it comments on news. Mark and his team of co-presenters run live shows throughout the day discussing the latest news with their followers, and they post some of that on Twitter along with articles written by other outlets.
@mufcmpb

Although this account is advertised as a hub for Manchester United transfer news, they post about lots of other stuff too. Even the performance of ex-Man Utd players, for example.
That said, transfer news is what @mufcmpb is known for, and they are usually pretty reliable – they don’t post any old rubbish just for clicks. Their news is usually well sourced either from their own contacts or from other journalists.
Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein follow @mufcmpb, which tells you a lot.
They have a Youtube channel too, but it’s inactive. In fact, even the Twitter account went quiet for a while, but it’s now back up and running just as good as before.
@UtdDistrict

@UtdDistrict is a news channel by the fans, for the fans.
They tweet all day, every day, averaging about posts per day. It’s not fluff either. It’s genuine news, and they do complete coverage of the men’s, women’s, and youth teams, so it’s an account with a club wide focus.
Obviously, with this level of activity the ‘news’ isn’t always ground breaking. It’s sometimes a very minor update to an existing story, but it’s about as up to date as you will find anywhere else.
If you imagine the BBCNews twitter account, but focussed entirely on Manchester United, you’ve basically got the idea. It’s factual with a professional feel, often linking through to articles on their website. It’s not an opinion based fan account.
@StretfordPaddock

These guys know their football, and they know Manchester United inside out.
The account is linked to a Youtube channel so they often link through to their videos, but the @StretfordPaddock Twitter account posts all sorts from news and rumours to match reports, analysis, and discussion.
If you want intelligent game and club analysis, this is the account for you. They often dig into the stats and come up with data driven opinions on what is going on in games, why it is happening, and what United could and should do instead. They do their own scout reports too, and all of their content is measured and considered.
They are a funny bunch of lads to boot, so despite being ‘heavier’ in terms of content, it’s a very engaging and amusing account to follow.
Others
Those are my top 4, and they all serve a slightly different purpose.
Of course, I don’t just follow those account, so I will list some others below. There are hundreds of them out there, but most are fairly similar: sharing news, writing articles of their own, or giving opinion and commentary on news and performances.
A few more to add to your following list:
- UnitedMuppetiers – @Muppetiers
- UtdPlug – @UtdPlug
- UF – @UtdFaithfuls
- UnitedReds – @UnitedRedscom
- centredevils. – @centredevils
- Man United News – @ManUtdMEN
- UtdXclusive – @UtdXClusive
Between this lot, you’ll never miss out on any United news or gossip, and you will probably come across some pretty insightful opinions and analysis too.
