Manchester United Supporters Guide: Everything You Need To Know

Despite the stature of the club, with enormous global appeal, accurate information on Manchester United can be hard to come by. It’s often buried deep in the website, surrounded by information that is not relevant to you.

So, this is a simple supporters guide to all things Manchester United, from buying your tickets, who are the key supporter’s groups, and navigating your way round the stadium.

You’ll find it all in here, with the extra nonsense stripped away and only the key details remaining.

Where to Buy Tickets

Manchester United Tickets

The only place you can buy legit Manchester United tickets is from their official website. The way in which ticketing is handled is quite strict, and membership is required. See our buying guide for full details.

Ticket touting websites are not legal ways of buying tickets and charge inflated prices that are significantly above face value. The membership system is designed to stop this behaviour, so if you do buy a ticket from a tout, you might not even be able to get into the ground with it.

Membership

You must be a Premium, Official or Under-16 Member to purchase home match tickets directly.

You can only buy one ticket per membership.

Tickets are categorised by fixture and seat – prices vary depending on the category.

Tickets can sell out almost instantly, while selected games are allocated through a ballot.

Ticket Prices – (as per the official website)

The club’s most recently published match-by-match member ticket prices are:

Category Price
Category A £59–£97
Category B £57–£86
Category C £37–£60
Category D – selected cup fixtures £32–£52

Prices for 2026/27 matches are shown on the official ticketing website when they go on sale, and can vary from game to game.

Getting to Old Trafford

With the many car parks, both official and unofficial, Old Trafford is easily accessible by car, but you must have a parking permit for the official car parks and should leave extra time due to increased traffic on matchdays.

The Altrincham tram line stops at Old Trafford Metrolink station and is around a five-minute walk from the football stadium.

If you’re getting the tram from Manchester Piccadilly station, you’d want to give yourself at least an hour in advance to catch the tram, arrive at Old Trafford Metrolink station and walk to the stadium. You may want additional time for queuing to get through security, the turnstiles and finding your seat.

There are free bike racks located at N2, E2 and W2 car parks.

Fan Groups

Manchester United Fan Groups

United have an abundance of official fan groups, but the three main groups are unofficial. The three you should know are the Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST), the 1958 and The Red Army (TRA).

MUST are an unofficial group which have connections with the club as they’re involved in the fans advisory board, but do not support the Glazers ownership of the club and wish for them to sell.

The 1958 group are an ‘underground’ group which protests the ownership of the club. They often organise and lead these protests.

TRA are a group of match going reds who want to bring the atmosphere back to Old Trafford again. They have their own corner of seats in the stadium, where tickets are mostly exclusively held by members of this group, who will ensure loud singing and proper atmosphere.

There are plenty of fan led Youtube channels and Twitter accounts that are worth a follow too.

Accessibility

The last thing you want is extra stresses around accessibility in the ground.

Old Trafford has accessible entrances and viewing areas in several parts of the stadium. It also has accessible catering facilities, accessible toilets and two Changing Places facilities. The Ability Suite, located behind the accessible viewing platform in the South-East Quadrant, has an accessible kiosk and facilities for recharging mobility aids and portable ventilators.

Disabled supporters should contact Manchester United’s Accessibility Team before applying for tickets so that their requirements can be registered and suitable seating can be arranged. The team can be contacted on 0161 868 8001 or at [email protected].

Assistance dogs are welcome, while crutches, walking aids and essential medical equipment are permitted.
