As one of the biggest clubs on the planet, Manchester United always try to ensure that they have exciting forwards on the books. That is part of the reason why the club chose to sign Ashton Missin to the Academy, with the Halifax-born forward seen as talented enough to be put into the Under-18s team when he was just 16-years-old. Born on the 15th of August 2006, he first appeared for the Under-18s in the summer of 2022 and soon impressed the coaches. As a result, he played 20 times at the age level in the 2023-2024 campaign, finding the net four times.
That helped the Under-18s win the national title, whilst also catching the eye of the Under-21s coaches. The result of that was that Missin was moved into the older age group, playing nine times and scoring an away match against Middlesbrough. Having seen the likes of Robbie Mainoo get experience in the first-team, Missin set his sights on doing exactly that as his career progressed through the Academy. The goal against Middlesbrough came on his debut at the Under-21s level, seeing the winger gain vital experience on his way to the top of the game in the years that followed.
