Manchester United Goalkeepers

Manchester United Goalkeepers

The Goalkeeper is the last line of defence and the first point of attack.

From commanding shot-stoppers to modern sweeper-keepers, the goalkeeping role at Manchester United has always carried huge responsibility.

These are the goalkeepers currently representing Manchester United across the first team.

Current Man Utd Goalkeepers

Altay Bayinder (1)

Altay Bayinder HeadshotAltay Bayinder became Manchester United’s first Turkish player when he joined the club in September 2023. He made his debut in January 2024, an away win against Newport which finished 4-2, and his Old Trafford debut came in a 7-0 win against Barnsley 8 months later.

One particularly memorable match for Bayinder was the FA Cup third-round victory at Arsenal in January 2025, during which he saved two penalties to get the Red Devils through to the next round.

Tom Heaton (22)

Tom Heaton HeadshotA product of United’s academy, Tom Heaton was a Red from 2002 until 2010, although he spent most of his senior career during that time away on loan and never made an appearance for Man Utd. After a long career including 3 caps for England and a long spell as Burnley’s Number 1, Tom re-joined his boyhood club in 2021.

He finally made his senior debut in December 2021, replacing Dean Henderson in the second half of a Champions League group stage game against Young Boys of Bern. Heaton kept a clean sheet, but the score was already 1-1 when he came on, and that is how it stayed. Tom continues to be an important senior member of the squad.

Andre Onana (24)

Andre Onana HeadshotCurrently on loan at Trabzonspor

Signed by Erik ten hag in July 2023, Cameroonian international Andre Onana was specifically chosen for his ability to play out with the ball at his feet. He was first choice goalkeeper in his first two seasons, and finished his first year at Old Trafford as an FA Cup winner.

Despite some excellent performances and becoming the first goalkeeper to win the Premier League save of the month three times in a single season, Andre has had a mixed experience during his time with the club. Questions about consistency and decision making were raised after a number of errors, and after United were knocked out of the League Cup by Grimsby Town on 27th August 2025, Onana was sent on loan to Trabzonspor.

Senne Lammens (31)

Senne Lammens HeadshotLittle was known about Senne Lammens when he was signed from Royal Antwerp in September 2025, but everybody knows about him now. He kept the most clean sheets in the Belgian Pro League the season before he joined United, and while clean sheets haven’t been a feature of his time in Manchester so far, his performances have inspired plenty of confidence.

The 23 year old is currently the club’s first choice goalkeeper, having made his debut in a 2-0 win against Sunderland in October 2025, and his contract runs until June 2030.
