Habeeb Ogunneye – Right-Back Man United

Habeeb Omotolani Oluwatoyin Ogunneye was born in the London borough of Hackney on the 12th of November 2005. He signed for the Manchester United Academy as a youngster and made his debut in the Under-18s side in 2021, aged just 15. His performances were impressive enough to mean that he was upgraded to be part of the Under-21s side that played in the UEFA Youth League during the 2022-2023 campaign.

That, in turn, caught the eye of the then-United boss Erik Ten Hag, who called him up to work with the first-team and even put him on the bench for an FA Cup tie against Nottingham Forest.

Ogunneye was sought after by Nigeria on account of the fact that he has Nigerian roots, meaning that he would qualify to play for the Super Eagles at international level but played for the England team at numerous different stages. A right-back by trade, his style of play is such that he likes to join the attack where possible, allowing him to also operate as a wing-back.

He signed his first professional contract with the Red Devils in 2022, working well in the Under-21 side and being a solid prospect throughout his time with the Old Trafford club.
