Sam Murray – Defender Man United

Attacking left-back Sam Murray was born on the 25th of September 2004, joining the Huddersfield Town Academy as a youngster. When the Terriers decided to downgrade the Academy and only have teams at Under-17s and Under-19s levels, Murray was left without a club to play for.

Although the club has since reversed the decision, it presented Murray with the opportunity to join the Manchester United Under-15s and he rose through the ranks in the years that followed. Such were the level of his performances that he also earned some caps playing for the England Under-15s.

Having played all of the Manchester United Under-18s games during the club’s run to the FA Youth Cup final in 2022, Murray became a mainstay in the club’s Academy and impressed at all age levels. Having gained experience in the likes of the EFL Trophy, Murray was sent on loan to Rochdale for the 2023-2024 season whilst also continuing to train with the Manchester United Academy.

When the Red Devils played against Rosenborg in Norway as part of the club’s pre-season tour prior to the 2024-2025 campaign, Murray was named as the club’s starting left-back.
