Toby Collyer – Defensive Midfielder Man United

Tobias Christopher Collyer, better known as Toby, was born on the third of January 2004 in the seaside town of Worthing, West Sussex. He joined the Brighton & Hove Albion youth setup at the Under-12s level, making his Under-18s debut when he was just 15-years-old.

He was a key player as the Seagulls finished third in the Premier League South whilst winning the Premier League Under-17s Cup in the 2020-2021 season, then made his Under-23s debut not long after his 17th birthday, which was enough to persuade Manchester United to take him to their Academy in 2022.

They signed him on a three-and-a-half-year deal after he had turned down the chance to sign a new contract for Brighton and impressed whilst on a trial with the Red Devils. Having impressed at youth level, the defensive midfielder was called up to the Manchester United first-team for the club’s pre-season match against Leeds United in 2023.

His debut came in a 3-1 loss to Wrexham in another pre-season friendly, but his competitive debut came as a sub in the Manchester derby against City in the 2024 FA Community Shield. In the Premier League, he replaced Casemiro in a 3-0 loss to Liverpool at Old Trafford at the start of September 2024.
