Tom Wooster – Goalkeeper Man United

One of the strongest areas in the Manchester United squad is arguably in the goalkeeper spot. Tom Wooster made his way through the Barnsley Academy when he was picked up by the Red Devils in order to play a part in their Under-18s system.

The club identified him as a possible addition after he was named Barnsley’s ‘Academy Player of the Season’ in his final campaign at his former club, which was enough to see him play semi-regularly for the United Under-18s. Whilst training for the Red Devils, he was sent on a work experience loan to Bradford City and played games for their Under-19s.

Whilst working with the Bantams, Wooster helped the club to pick up the EFL Youth Alliance North East title. In the February of 2023, Wooster was sent on loan to Ramsbottom United and spent the rest of the 2022-2023 season there. He saved a penalty on his debut in order to help the team save a point against Workington AFC.

That saw him moved up to the Under-21s at United for the 2023-2024 campaign, with loan moves to both Macclesfield Town and Farsley Celtic giving him a chance to gain more experience. Between Macclesfield and Ramsbottom United, he kept four clean sheets across 11 games.
