Not to be confused with William Murdoch, the Scottish chemist and inventor, William Murdock was born in Yorkshire on the 26th of May 2007. In spite of the fact that he was born in England, he is actually registered to play for Northern Ireland. He joined the Manchester United Academy in 2023, working with the coaches there in order to improve his quality and make his way up through the ranks, which he did steadily in the months that followed his arrival.
As a result, he became the first-choice goalkeeper for the Red Devils’ FA Youth Cup squad in the 2024-2025 campaign.

With Murdock in goal, the club reached the semi-finals of the competition, losing to Aston Villa, who also went on to defeat United’s fierce rivals Manchester City in the final. During the same season, Murdock made 12 appearances in the Under-18s Premier League, where he kept six clean sheets, whilst also playing in Premier League 2, the Under-21s age group, three times.
He enjoyed his first appearance in a match day squad when Manchester United played Fulham in the fifth round of the FA Cup, being an unused substitute. His brother, Freddie Murdock, is also a footballer.
