Keane and Marquinhos close to joining, and Rashford promises title push

CLOSE TO A RETURN

If media reports are to be believed, former Reserve Player of the Year, Michael Keane is very close to sealing a move back to Old Trafford. United and Burnley are close to agreeing on a £25m move for the England international. United will reportedly pay him £100k a week for his services. Keane could be the second arrival in what could be a busy summer for Jose Mourinho and Manchester United.

POGBA TO MISS SOUTHAMPTON

Manchester United manager confirmed that Paul Pogba will miss the game tonight against Southampton for personal reasons. When asked about the player, Mourinho said: “I don’t think so. I think that his dad’s funeral has to be between Tuesday and Wednesday in France. I don’t think that Paul has the conditions to play. We have left him completely free to be back when he thinks he’s ready.” It is unclear as to whether he will return for the Premier League match against Crystal Palace.

CHRIS TO THE EXIT DOOR?

Manchester United’s Chris Smalling has reportedly grown disillusioned with life under Jose Mourinho and may be looking for a move away from Old Trafford. United are close to signing Keane and already looking at another centre-back in Marquinhos at PSG.

ANOTHER HINT AT RODRIGUEZ SIGNING

Manchester United ‘player’ James Rodriguez reportedly missed a training session at Madrid after sealing a move to Old Trafford this week. The transfer, as of now, remains unannounced but it is all but a formality.

RASH PROMISE?

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has promised fans that United will have a genuine title push after failing to provide one this season. Rashford said: “As a team we’ve developed and grown so much and we hadn’t been beaten in the league since October up until the Arsenal game. So I think there have been many positives and they’re the things we have to take into next season. Then we just have to clean up on other stuff to make sure we are challenging for next season.”

EMBALO BID

Manchester United have tabled an opening bid of £5.1m for Benfica sensation Umaro Embalo if reports in Portugal are to be believed. United are desperate for another statement signing for their academy and want to lock up the player this summer.

MARQUINHOS ALSO CLOSE

PSG will accept a United bid for Marquinhos in the range of £60m. Marquinhos has rejected a new deal in Paris and has two years left on his current contract. PSG are prepared to let the Brazilian leave and avoid losing him for a cut-price fee next summer. But no negotiations will take place until PSG complete their Cup final against Angers in 10 days’ time.
